West Midlands motorway driver caught peeling an egg with both hands
During a West Midlands Police motorway crackdown, a driver was spotted peeling an egg with both hands at the wheel and reported for not being in proper control of a vehicle.

Breakfast, it turns out, is not a hands-free activity.
During West Midlands Police’s Operation Tramline (26–31 October 2026), officers used an unmarked National Highways HGV cab to watch traffic on the M5, M6, M42 and A38(M). Among 225 offences in a week, one stood out for all the wrong reasons: a car driver peeling an egg with both hands while travelling on the motorway.

The driver was reported for not being in proper control of a vehicle. Police did not name them.

The same week also produced an HGV crawling along the M6 with nine of its ten wheel bolts missing, another driver smoking with one hand and on a mobile with the other, and a vehicle seven tonnes overweight with unsecured bricks and uncovered sand blowing out. Fifty drivers were dealt with for mobile-phone use and 21 for no seatbelt.

Sgt Steve Wellington of the Roads Policing Unit said operations like this matter for cutting deaths and serious injuries, and urged drivers to wear a seatbelt, leave the phone alone and keep proper control. Soft-boiled tip from us: peel it in the car park, not in lane two.
