Livonia firefighters lower a ladder so a deer can climb out of a swimming pool
Livonia Fire Department and police rescued a deer that fell through a secured pool cover into a partially drained backyard swimming pool – firefighters lowered an extension ladder, the deer climbed out and ran off uninjured.

Forget cats in trees. In Livonia, Michigan, firefighters answered a rather more splashy call: a deer that had fallen through a secured in-ground pool cover into a partially drained backyard swimming pool – and could not get its footing to climb out.
Livonia Fire Department and police arrived, lowered an extension ladder into the pool, and the deer climbed out and ran off, apparently uninjured. The department reminded pool owners to inspect covers and consider wildlife escape ramps. As LFD put it, they are always ready to answer the call, “even when the patient has four legs.”

Next time your pool cover looks a bit dented, maybe check for antlers before you dive in.
