Forget car thieves. In Beaufort, South Carolina, officers found themselves in a foot chase after two runaway piglets – nicknamed Bacon Bits – who were, in the force’s own words, accused of fleeing, squealing and being career “cri-ham-inals”.
The Beaufort Police Department shared video of the pursuit on social media. No harm was done: officers safely caught both piglets and returned them to their owner. Local TV station WTOC and other Gray News outlets picked up the clip on 5 November 2026.
